Ann Arbor police are searching for a man and a woman who they believe broke into a home on Watershed Court and then used the homeowner’s credit cards at Metro Detroit Meijer locations.

The home invasion occurred between 11:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 20 in a home in the 700 block of Watershed Court. According to police, the home was broken into while the residents were asleep. Police said the man and woman entered the home through an open overhead garage door.

According to police, electronics and a purse containing credit cards and cash were stolen.

Later on in the morning of Oct. 20, the stolen credit cards were used at Meijer locations in Canton and Belleville. Police were able to get photos of the man and woman from security cameras at the stores.

The suspects are believed to be driving a black-colored, four-door vehicle, possibly a Dodge Caliber.

Anyone with information on the home invasion or who might recognize the individuals is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Detective Dan Iverson at 734-794-6930 ext. 49321.

Even criminals know the values they can find at Meijer's.

According to the wikipedia page on metro Detroit, the 734 area code where the home invasion occured is also is part of Metro Detroit. Here is the qoute from the page. Metro Detroit is served by eight telephone area codes (six not including Windsor). The 313 area code, which used to encompass all of Southeast Michigan, has been narrowed to the city of Detroit and a few close suburbs. The 248 area code along with the newer 947 area code overlay mostly serve Oakland County. Macomb County is largely served by 586. Genesee, St. Clair, and Lapeer counties, eastern Livingston County, and part of northern Oakland County are covered by 810. Washtenaw, Monroe, and western Wayne are in the 734 area.

It didn't even cross my mind they were from Detroit----I figured they just thought it would be better to go to a non-local Meijer to use the stolen credit cards. I highly doubt this is their first home invasion, hope someone calls the tip line soon.

Ahh...people commenting without actually reading the article (or digesting the content therein). Although A2.com describing Canton and Belleville Meijer's as Metro Detroit is suspect as well. They must orient crimes geographically based on the map in the corner of the "31 Metro-Detroit Ford Dealers" adds.

People said the EXACT same thing when they built I-94 in the late 1950's. Except there was more of a racist tone in those days... As apposed to the quasi-racist tone of today.
