A man who was lurking in the shadows with a knife robbed a 24-year-old Ann Arbor man at Louise Drive and Hollywood Drive around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Ann Arbor police said.

The 24-year-old victim had been sitting in his parked car at his residence near the 900 block of Louise talking on his cell phone for some time before attempting to get out of the vehicle.

When he did, the robber pounced, flashed the knife and took the 24-year-old's wallet and cell phone, police said.

“This person appeared out of the shadows,” said Sgt. Craig Flocken of the AAPD.

The man fled on foot. Police used a dog to track the suspect, but did not locate him.

Detectives continue to investigate.
