Ann Arbor man bloodied by beer bottle in assault Sunday
A 19-year-old Ann Arbor man suffered gashes on his forehead and face after being hit repeatedly with a bottle at a poolside party early Sunday morning.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said officers were dispatched to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital at 4:23 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man with facial injuries. The man told police he had been at a party at an apartment complex near Plymouth Road and Huron Parkway.
The party started in an apartment at the complex and then moved down to the pool area. Bush said the man told police the party started to end. and he protested because he wanted to keep the party going.
Two men grabbed the 19-year-old and held him against a fence near the pool and another man, whom the victim knew, approached from behind the fence, Bush said. That man hit the 19-year-old several times with a beer bottle before others could restrain him, she said.
The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Hospital staff reported the incident to police.
