Two Dexter area break-ins reported since police issued warning of man 'casing' homes to rob
Whether or not they're related is unclear, but in the days following Friday's warning from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office about a man "casing" homes to rob in the western part of the county, vehicles and a home were broken into in the Dexter area.
On Friday night, three vehicles were broken into. Among the items taken in the thefts were two sets of golf clubs, sunglasses and a bag. The incidents occurred in the 3000 block of Edison Street, the 7000 block of Dexter Ann Arbor Road and the 7000 block of Third Street.
Deputies were then dispatched to the 11000 block of North Territorial Road in Dexter Township for a home invasion that happened between 4 and 6 p.m. on Saturday. According to the sheriff's office, an unknown suspect entered the home through an unlocked window in the back of the house. Around 60 video games and DVDs were reported stolen. There are no suspects, though police continue to investigate.
Sgt. Geoff Fox of the sheriff's office said there was no reason to believe the man described in the warning is responsible but he didn't discount the possibility.
Police didn't have any more information to release about the reports of the man in the minivan. Fox said the warning stemmed from a citizen complaint.

A warning by police is always a good thing! They need our help when we see suspicious activity.

The cars were unlocked, while the "home invasion" involved entering an empty house through an open back window. Some people are goofy enough to think they live in Disneyland.

And some people are just goofy and have no idea what they are talking about! Let's do something about crime, not just play the blame game. That's the easy way out. Don't you think these people feel bad enough already? Get off of your high horse!

Sixty video games and DVDs stolen? Sounds like someone was terribly bored, with nothing interesting to do during the summer months. If someone wanted to hold golf tournaments for kids who don't have enough to do during the summer without getting into trouble, golf club theft is not the way to start organizing a team, let alone a tournament. The news story of a basketball tournament for the kids living on MacArthur Boulevard to keep them out of trouble during the summer is still fresh on my mind.
