Emergency crews Friday rescued a man trapped in a trench in Ypsilanti Township about 3 p.m. Friday in the 6000 block of Munger Road.

Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams said a man who had been caught in the trench was freed and was walking around by 3:45 p.m.

Pittsfield Township Fire Chief Sean Gleason said a man was doing excavating work around his house when his left leg became trapped in the earth. Emergency crews basically had to dig the man out. Gleason said the man was not injured and refused medical treatment.
