Emergency crews Friday rescued a man trapped in a trench in Ypsilanti Township about 3 p.m. Friday in the 6000 block of Munger Road.
Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams said a man who had been caught in the trench was freed and was walking around by 3:45 p.m.
Pittsfield Township Fire Chief Sean Gleason said a man was doing excavating work around his house when his left leg became trapped in the earth. Emergency crews basically had to dig the man out. Gleason said the man was not injured and refused medical treatment.

Both Ypsi and Pittsfield were dispatched because the residence is right on the border. They weren't quite sure which side of the fence it was on. It ended up being in Ypsi, but Pittsfield got there first.

You give the impression that Munger Road marks at least part of the eastern border of Pittsfield Township and the western border of Ypsilanti Township. I know of other roads that do that, such as Parker, Maple and Napier (which separates part of Washtenaw County from Wayne County).

Article does not say this was during the course of Installing under ground utilities, but I suspect it was. Trench boxes, the safest way to work.
