Ann Arbor firefighters quickly brought an attic fire in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue under control Tuesday morning, officials said.

Ann Arbor Fire Department Battalion Chief Robert Vogel said crews were called to a home around 10:10 a.m. for a fire that broke out in a library in an attic area on the third floor.

There was a lot of smoke when firefighters arrived, Vogel added, and crews worked quickly to contain the blaze to the third floor and extinguish it.

The homeowner, a man in his 50s, was home at the time, but there were no reported injuries.

Vogel said the fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damages. The cause remains under investigation. The house was undergoing repairs at the time of the fire, officials said.

Glad to see that someone made an educated decision and staffed the new 1 million dollar tower truck instead of parking it like a museum piece. Ann Arbor tax payers want to see our fire department staffed appropriately with a tower 24/7. That is what we are paying for, isn't it? I am sure the surrounding communities do not appreciate their tax dollars going toward our public safety services. When will city council and the mayor make things right at Ann Arbor's fire department. Actually city council. The mayor is too busy with his special interests.

In a library? I hope he didn't lose all his books, but I bet he lost a lot of them.

Nice work, AAFD. Cool photo of a water can mid-hoist.

With the speed that news gets out these days, I'm always afraid when I see a story like this that I'll click on it and end up yelling, "Aw, crap, that's my house!"
