Crashes block westbound M-14 east of Ann Arbor
Editor's note: All lanes of the freeway are reported clear as of 8:25 a.m.
A pair of crashes was tying up traffic on M-14 near Gotfredson Road east of Ann Arbor Wednesday morning.
The westbound lanes of the freeway were blocked by one of the crashes. A Google traffic map showed significant backups on both sides of the freeway.
State Police were on the scene of the crashes, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said about 7:10 a.m.
Further information, including how many vehicles were involved, was not immediately available.

Anyone know if they are gong to widen it to three lanes? It would make sense to do it now while everyhting is tore up.

I have noticed a number of cars flying through that zone at very high speed. Some of those cars appear to be swerving back and forth, and I can see the drivers tapping away on electronic devices and not noticing a traffic slowdown or somebody trying to get on from Ford or Gotfredson.

The accident I saw this morning was east-bound just before Godfredson and it was a rollover. How someone can be driving that fast in a single lane construction zone and flip a car is beyond me. The back-up started on US-23. An ugly commute for all of us M-14 commuters. Let's not have another one anytime soon.
