A few cows and horses had a few moments of perilous freedom Friday morning wandering along M-14 on the northeast side of Ann Arbor.

Motorists reported seeing the animals about 8 a.m. on the shoulder of the highway east of the east triple-decker intersection with U.S. 23, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said.

Michigan State Police responded and the animals were rounded up. The incident was over by 8:30 a.m., the dispatcher said.

A woman who answered the phone at the nearby Domino's Petting Farm said they were not escapees from the farm.
