Construction likely to slow traffic in Scio Township on Zeeb and Jackson roads
Work on Jackson and Zeeb roads in Scio Township will likely cause travel delays in that area today and over the next two weeks.
Travel will be restricted to one lane while road crews rehabilitate concrete panels and repair and reseal joints on Jackson Road between the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store and Wagner Road, and on Zeeb Road from Park Road to I-94, a press release from the Washtenaw County Road Commission said.
The concrete pavement repairs and joint sealing are expected to take approximately two weeks and will occur during daytime hours. Traffic restrictions will remain in place until the the newly repaired areas have properly cured, the press release said. Access for residents, businesses and deliveries will be maintained.
The repair schedule is tentative and could be affected by the weather, the release said.
The road commission asks motorists watch out for construction equipment and workers, and reduce speeds.

Thinking about it--I think this project also is fixing Phase I, which was done in 1997.

"If this were expected and predicable maintenance, the entire stretch of Jackson Road that had been built at that time should need the same work. But, apparently, it does not." But in fact it is--exactly the stretch that was built during the previous phase of construction (Phase II, completed in 2002, so while it may not be your 10 years, it's pretty close).

Yea well I wont be surprised if Steve Puuri has all the alternate routes to bypass this under construction too.

E.R.M's Ghost: While you may think two weeks means "substantial repair" I'm not so sure that's the case. From the sketchy article (shame on AA dot COM) one cannot tell what the work mix is, or how long it should take. Having driven that stretch recently there is likely little of rehabbing concrete panels, and mostly sealing. I've seen way too many road joints not properly resealed, and I suspect (and hope) WCRC might actually be doing the job properly. If it's a smallish crew then two weeks seems not inappropriate.

No question it is in good condition, and I laud the County Raod Commission for doing preventative maintenance on it before it falls apart--what a unique concept!! But that so new a road needs such substantial repair (two weeks to complete) strongly suggests shoddy workmanship, as does its localized nature. If this were expected and predicable maintenance, the entire stretch of Jackson Road that had been built at that time should need the same work. But, apparently, it does not. So the basic point remains--why is this level of road repair necessary on such a new stretch of road? Good Night and Good Luck

Naw... The roads being worked on in Scio Township are already smooth as silk, when compared to the streets in Ann Arbor. Me thinks this is more like routine maintenance of the type not regularly seen in our county's largest city. Maintenance that eliminates, or at least greatly postpones, the need for major repairs. This is work that's completed in mere days per mile, not projects that go on for months. There's a real world, beyond the city limit...

This stretch of road is only a few years old and it already needs major repairs? It is time for the Michigan DOT and for the county road commission to require construction companies to post a bond that will guarantee the quality of their work for a decade or more. Good Night and Good Luck
