Dexter-Chelsea Road closed at Freer Road while electrical poles repaired
Update: The road was reopened just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Chelsea Area Fire Authority shut down Dexter-Chelsea Road Thursday afternoon after electrical poles broke and put wires across the road.
The poles broke near Freer Road in Chelsea, causing fire officials to set up a detour around the area, firefighters said Thursday. Confirmation of the road closure came just before 3 p.m. Thursday.
Fire officials did not know how long the road would be closed. The Chelsea Electrical Company was responding to the area to do repairs.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.

The electrical poles broke, but apparently no electrical fire started. The road was probably wet, but a live wire is hazardous nonetheless. Closing the road helped keep anyone from getting electrocuted.
