Chelsea's got a City Council horse race with eight candidates running
Eight candidates have submitted their petitions to run for three open seats on the Chelsea City Council in the Nov. 8 general election.
That is the highest number of candidates to run for office at one time since Chelsea became a city in 2004.
Three incumbents—Rod Anderson, Bill Holmberg and Kent Martinez-Kratz—are joined by Erin Brayton, Indira Ghosh, Daniel Kaminsky, Harry Myers, Jr. and Marcia Parker.
Two weeks before Tuesday’s filing date, no one had turned in a petition for the four-year seats and there was concern about whether anyone would run.

Welcome to all the candidates! This shows a strong impetus for change within the community, a very good thing. A competitive election is needed to restart the pace of change, which can hopefully continue to the 2013 elections, when the real change will need to occur. I'm missing something - what are the 8 people running for if not the 4 year seats?

Two weeks ago no one had submitted--so we were wondering if anyone was going to run. All 8 got their petitions in at last minute! That's what she's reporting.
