Chelsea Library receives grant from Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs

Chelsea District Library was recently awarded a $5,600 grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs to support the annual Kids Read Comics event.

Kids Read Comics is a free two-day celebration of comics, according to information from the library. This year, it will be held in conjunction with the Chelsea Center for the Arts.

The event was founded by Edith Burney of Chelsea, youth and teen librarian; Jerzy Drozd of Ann Arbor, a cartoonist and educator; Dan Merritt of Dearborn, a comic shop owner; and Dan Mishkin of East Lansing, a comic book writer.
