It's business as usual at Chelsea Community Hospital during construction

By Lisa Allmendinger

As the Chelsea Community Hospital begins construction of its multi-phase expanded facility, new signs have been erected and there are updates on the hospital’s website to help patients and their families navigate the campus.

The project includes a two-story addition, including 54 new beds, which will make all the hospital’s rooms private, as well as a new emergency room, X-ray and imaging areas, outpatient rehabilitation and therapy, front entrance, and lobby. “Our high-quality service to our patients and their families remains unchanged as we build a new, state-of-the-art facility for the communities we serve,” Kathleen Griffiths, president and CEO of the hospital said in a press release today.

All hospital services, including the 24-hour emergency room, will be open as usual throughout the duration of the project and will continue uninterrupted.

“We are working closely with our construction management team to minimize any inconvenience to our patients and visitors,” she said.

The hospital broke ground on the project March 22.

Periodic changes to traffic flow are expected. Patients and visitors can view the hospital construction website for the latest updates.
