Case delayed against Ypsilanti Township woman accused of shooting husband and then claiming he was an intruder

Katharine Mishler
Katharine Mishler, 23, was recently ordered to undergo testing at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in York Township, court records show. A preliminary hearing on charges of murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony and falsely reporting a felony will follow a competency examination on June 8 in district court.
She remains in custody without bond. Mishler was arrested by Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies who responded to her residence in the Tuscan Creek apartments at about 1:45 a.m. on March 23. She called dispatchers to report shooting an intruder, but investigators confirmed the victim was her husband, Samuel Mishler, 20. He was shot in the head, police said.
Investigators said the two had argued in their second-floor apartment and that she deliberately tried to mislead detectives initially. Authorities found a .38-caliber handgun in the apartment and said she later made incriminating statements during interviews with detectives.
Mishler is represented by the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office, which has a policy against commenting on pending cases.

I am happy that she will go for testing at the York Center. She is a very sad looking young lady. We don't know transpired prior to the shooting. An excuse won't set her free, but perhaps a reason will.
