By Steve Pepple
DOWNTOWN CRASH: Ann Arbor police officers talk to one of the drivers involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon at the corner of East Liberty Street and Fourth Avenue, in front of the Federal Building. The crash between a Ford Explorer and a Honda Civic sent the car onto the sidewalk. There didn't appear to be any injuries.

This "news story" is remarkably short of news basics: What happened? Who was involved? Why was there an accident here? Anyone ticketed? Any pedestrians have an account of the accident?

No would that be "Midtown" there, or maybe lower Midtown? I can't keep track of all the newly minted names for areas of town.

I think it's probably a smoother ride, driving on the sidewalk, than staying in the street when you consider the state of disrepair for Ann Arbor's roads. Unlike for the streets, there's a city ordinance that requires sidewalks be kept in good repair.

Between the skateboarders, bicyclers and now cars, when I'm trying to navigate the sidewalks of Ann Arbor, I feel like Ben Hur.
