I can not believe that this has turned into a lets us bash the author of the article. There are hurting families out there who are grieving. Where are your hearts?

Perhaps annarbor.com should be more selective about articles it links to its home page. If this is from clickondetroit, the story written as a blurb for television news. I thought perhaps annarbor.com had started using writers from Journatic as discussed in This American life last month...

The writer is confused about how jurisdictions work. Van Buren PD is the local department of jurisdiction, not Belleville PD. Sooooo many inaccuracies in this article, I agree, those with comments do a better job of writing this piece.

Thsi article needs to be improved, which park, and is it Bellville or Van Buren. The dead or alive recovery? Come on, this is important news and you still can't get the story correct! Please fill in the blanks, many folks have family in that area. Have a good day.

So it looks like the commenters are going to write the story for you. I guess that's fine. You provide the headline, and we'll do the research and write the article.

Story should be updated. Both male and female swimmers were found dead -- female body recovered at 9:30 am, male body recovered at 11:30 am. Power failure in Belleville made it difficult to search for bodies last night until sunlight this morning.

I think the use of the word "recover" makes it pretty clear that the first swimmer they found was dead. It would have been better to include the word "body" in the article title though. http://www.freep.com/article/20120805/NEWS05/120805020/swimmers-belleville-lake-bodies-found-Van-Buren

Yes, I agree with the comments above, this story should be update to denote if the recovery was saving one of the individuals of this incident, or sadly finding a body of one of the victims. Otherwise this small article is really, incomplete.

I agree, this report doesn't clearly indicate if the individual survived. When dealing with a tragedy like this it is REALLY important that family, friends, etc are not misled one way or the other. Please correct this, for their sake.

This is the worst writing ever. When you don't even know whether the recovered swimmer is dead or alive. I swear I would fire whomever wrote this.

The swim area in that park drops off extremely quick past the "rope" area, and it is very, very deep. I've been there a few times, so I know what I am talking about. My heart goes out to the families.

Do you mean they recovered the swimmer's body or they rescued a live swimmer? I suspect you mean the former but it could be made clearer.
