Be part of the coverage of President Barack Obama's visit to Ann Arbor - here's how

By Stefanie Murray

We want you to be a big part of the coverage and conversation on May 1, when President Barack Obama gives his commencement speech at the University of Michigan's 2010 graduation ceremony at Michigan Stadium.

If you are interested in live blogging with us that day, email stefaniemurray@annarbor.com. You'll need to have a smart phone to participate since computers aren't allowed in the Big House during the ceremony.

Outside of live blogging, there are a lot of different ways you can interact with us while you're waiting in line, while you're at Elbel Field, while you are inside Michigan Stadium and afterward when you're stuck in traffic waiting to get home or explore Ann Arbor.

Share your experience! Are the lines long? Did someone just say something really noteworthy? Did you see a VIP? A funny moment? What are you thinking about while President Obama is talking? What does it feel like in the Big House? Tell us, share your photos and send us your videos and we'll work to share your insight with the world.

Here are some ways you can interact with AnnArbor.com and share your experience on graduation day, using a smart phone or computer:

You don't need a smartphone to tweet -- anyone with SMS on their phone can. If the networks don't buckle under 100k iPhoners MMS-ing pictures to their friends, that is.

What's going to be closed and when during the president's visit? Has information been made available regarding such things as road closures? Will I-94 be affected?

How NOT to contribute to the coverage: ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) An armed man who was spotted at a North Carolina airport parking lot just after Air Force One departed and said he wanted to see the president was to appear before a judge Monday. Authorities arrested Joseph Sean McVey, 23, of Coshocton, Ohio, on Sunday afternoon at the Asheville Regional Airport and charged him with going armed in terror of the public, a misdemeanor. Sigh, I remember when terrorism was a cause for war, now it is a misdemeanor.

I will blog live from the Stadium Street bridge along with others holding signs that will reflect that it is a shovel ready project yet Obama has refused to let stimulus money finish the project. Feel free to join us and greet Obama...Ann Arbor style!

I live within a mile of the stadium, which unfortunately seems to clog up the 3G network when the place is full of others using the same network, so no blogging/tweeting with my smartphone. I am curious to see how everything (not just phone coverage) will compare to a football Saturday. Will security affect my neighborhood? Will parking be the same? Will there be Secret Service on my roof? It will be interesting to experience it all - the President will be within a mile of my house! I'll let him tailgate here if he'd like! I guess since I'll be stuck at home I could post the old fashioned way - a regular computer.
