Ann Arbor firefighters extinguished a 2000 Audi A4 that burst into flames behind the TCF Bank behind the Plymouth Road Mall on Wednesday morning.

The driver of the Audi pulled into the parking lot after having brake trouble, said Battalion Chief Robert Vogel.

The driver smelled smoke and got out of the vehicle, subsequently seeing smoke and fire coming from underneath the hood, Vogel said.

Firefighters were sent at 10 a.m. to 2733 Plymouth Road and found the car fully engulfed in flames, Vogel said. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews were able to leave the area after about 30 minutes, he said.

No one was injured in the blaze.

I saw the smoke in the sky and heard the fire truck. I was walking nearby on Aurora Street with my cousin and friend.

Wow, I wonder if someone bought my piece of crap A4 that I traded in. Never buy an Audi.

Well, at least it didn't suddenly accelerate and hit someone. Or was that a myth? Maybe the newer cars have a self-destruct to prevent sudden acceleration?

My boyfriend has a 16 year old Audi A4 with over 320k miles and it has never caught on fire.

Yes, I'm sure Audi engineers can be blamed for this 13 year old car (which i'm sure has had FLAWLESS maintenance) bursting into flames.

Hmm
