He offered a few weather facts:

  • With an average temperature of 73.4 degrees, this summer is tied with 1966 as the 5th warmest since records began in 1880. The warmest was 74.3 degrees in 1934. The normal summer temperature is 70.7 degrees.
  • With a total precipitation of 16.23 inches, this summer is the 3rd wettest since records began in 1880. The wettest was 18.89 inches in 1902. The normal summer precipitation is 10.21 inches.

Although it's been a hot summer, it's not expected to be a hot Labor Day weekend.

Saturday's forecast calls for cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 60s. The forecast improves for Sunday and Monday, which are expected to see sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s on Sunday and high 70s on Monday.

It has been a wonderful summer for me personally. I did not water my yard once this year. It looks gorgeous and not all dried up. I love the rain. The heat not so much. Thank you God for all of your blessings!

I won't remember the summer of 2010 for the total rainfall or average temperature, but for two effects from them: the tornados and high humidity. It rained so hard up here during the New Boston tornado that 40 mph was acceptable for freeway driving, and humidity at work was hot-shower-in-closed-bathroom level, fogging any mirror in the area. Even walls felt wet, although they didn't look wet.
