Ann Arbor area braces for yet more spring storms as flood warning and rain continue

How much rain can Washtenaw County take?

We're likely to find out Thursday as both rainfall and a flood warning continue to pressure storm drains, waterways, low-lying backyards and the patience of anyone who'd hoped to see sunshine this week.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service said storms caused a total of 1-3 inches of rainfall in the county, with areas on the northern edge reporting 4 inches.

Some of the weather impact of spring 2011 - the 6th wettest on record - so far midweek include:

Rain, flooding close Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor, wash out some secondary county routes

The best part of the weekend's forecast: Partly sunny skies return by Sunday. And Memorial Day is supposed to have highs in the mid-80s.
