AATA announces route detour with Stadium bridges project starting up soon
With the East Stadium Boulevard bridges reconstruction project expect to start next month, the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority has announced a detour for Route 14.
Removal and replacement of the bridge spans over South State Street and the Ann Arbor Railroad is expected to begin during the week of Nov. 28. The construction project will last well into 2012 and, as a result, Route 14 will not be able to reach the Pioneer High School area.
AATA officials said Route 14 will be detoured as shown in the map below and the following stops will be missed:
- North side of Stadium, west of Ferndale
- North side of Stadium, east of Park Place
- North side of Stadium at Crisler Arena
- Pioneer High School
- South side of Stadium opposite Crisler Arena

It is suggested passengers currently traveling to the University of Michigan medical campus by parking at the Pioneer park-and-ride lot use routes 7 and 16 to travel to the Blake Transit Center, where they can connect with Route 2, which travels to the central and medical campuses.
As project conditions change, it may be necessary to post revised information, AATA officials said. Routes 6 and 36 are expected to be detoured later in the construction project.

Again, they are welcome to walk over to Crisler and take the Commuter North, and transfer if need be to an AATA bus at the Union or the CCTC.

Statistically speaking, I think, PiHi students don't use the number 14. They use the 7 and the 16. I ride it (the 14) regularly.

I'm glad to see this bridge finally under repair. I haven't seen the plans, but I'm hoping it allows for bicycle traffic when it's finished.

One other option is to take the Northbound Commuter (U-M Campus Bus) from Crisler directly to the Hospital. This route runs every 10 minutes AND IT's FREE! Park at Pioneer and walk over to Crisler.
