All 66 Ann Arbor area runners registered for the 2013 Boston Marathon are uninjured after two bombs exploded along the end of the route Monday, killing three people and injuring more than 170 others.

AnnArbor.com has received confirmation on all of the runners from family members, employers, colleagues, friends and in some cases, the runners themselves, that they are safe following the chaos that ensued the explosions Monday on the streets of Boston.

About 23,000 runners from around the world were registered to run in the race, the Associated Press reported.

Two bombs exploded about 3 p.m. Monday on Boylston Street in Boston: the first of which was next to the finish line of the 26.2-mile race; the second of which detonated about 10 seconds later and 100 yards away, according to the Associated Press.

In the hours that followed, some runners communicated through Facebook statuses that they were OK; others were able to send a text message to their friends and loved ones.

Spotty cell service in the Boston area made it difficult for some people to communicate Monday afternoon and evening.

There were 56 runners from Ann Arbor registered to run in the Boston Marathon, as well as two from Ypsilanti, three from Saline, two from Chelsea, two from Milan and one from Whitmore Lake.

A number of individuals did not run in the race due to injuries or other diversions, which is noted on the list of the statuses of Ann Arbor area runners compiled by AnnArbor.com in the hours following the explosions Monday.

I walked across the street today and did NOT get hit by a car!:) Report on NEWS; not speculation, or "what ifs".

I don't understand why you feel the need to comment. If you're not interested, DON'T READ THE STORY. Pretty simple. A lot of people find this information useful.

I had a good friend pass the finish line 2 mins before the first blast. The only info we had was the time she finished, which made it scary. So, knowing everyone is safe from the area is a HUGE deal.

JBK, nothing about this story is speculation. The fact is more than 170 people were injured and three were killed Monday in the explosions at the Boston Marathon. Their names were not immediately released; many continue to be unknown. There was a list of people from Washtenaw County registered to run in that race. Through hours of work by multiple reporters and editors, we were able to confirm this afternoon that none of the runners from the Ann Arbor area were among the list of those injured. That's a fact we did not know before today.
