Most of the Washtenaw County residents who lost power after the storms early Thursday morning can now turn on their lights and air conditioning.

According to the DTE outage map, the largest pockets of outages have been taken care of, and DTE will now be working to restore power to smaller area outages.
DTE Energy
spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba said the company has restored power to all but 75,000 customers in Metro Detroit after 325,000 lost power during the storm."We have crews working 16 hour shifts and we have brought in people from Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New York to help us handle these outages," he said.
DTE expects to restore power to 90 percent of those affected by late Friday night, while the final customers will have to wait into the weekend.

I see from the DTE map that fewer than 90 customers are still without power right in the area of the Mallett's Creek Library. I'd rather pick up my hold there tomorrow than on Monday. I trust that the twig pickup has been coming along concurrent with the power restorations; I'll be going in more residential areas tomorrow that I didn't go through Thursday.

I'd love to have my garden and a/c back. We have a wire down in my garden (duly reported by us and AAFD) that still isn't fixed. I have 110 power, but not 220. No stove, oven, dryer or a/c. And no timeline offered by DTE. Affecting many of us on Rosewood Street.

That's right, Rosewood Street is off S. Industrial, which lost power.

Just reached DTE Energy customer service. The guy refused to provide any information at all except to confirm that our power's now scheduled to be restored Monday evening (rather than tonight) 5 days after it went out early Thursday morning. He refused to say where crews are working. This morning I was unable to find any crews in the area west of 7th around Stadium, a neighborhood where there's a large outage. He told me I'd be breaking the law if I tried to speak to a crew chief to learn what was going on.

The law?????? Oh brother, now DTE phone folks can interpret the law. If only they could correctly update the map. And yes, my elderly neighbors et al are told Monday by midnite......and their power went out on Wednesday, July 4th. Perhaps the headline should have an addendum......."likely to happen Friday but DTE didn't say WHICH Friday."

There are all these pockets in Ann Arbor that lost power yesterday Friday at 4:00 p.m. that say restoration is Monday. Why isn't that reported in this piece? Something like numerous outages have occurred around Ann Arbor well after the storm. Then run their reply or that a DTE spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

This map says some of the outages in the Dicken area Ardmoor, etc. occurred Friday afternoon. Any idea what is going on over here.

Headline needs updating. This morning, DTE's information says we should have power back Monday evening--5 days. We're just south of central area and have yet to see any sign of DTE. Just spent a fruitless half hour hoping someone would pick up the phone at the DTE call center.

This is what you'd expect in a 3rd world country. Every little storm results in thousands without power. Why the cheap infrastructure? To generate overtime jobs?

The lines are aging and the storms are getting more frequent. More on the way on Sunday.

Thank goodness! While I may still have some grumblings about "DTE" the business, I am so appreciative of those working in this stifling heat to get the power back on.
