35 people ejected, 2 arrested at Michigan-Purdue football game

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Police ejected 35 people from Saturday's University of Michigan vs. Purdue football game at Michigan Stadium.

According to Diane Brown, spokeswoman for the U-M Department of Public Safety, 24 were ejected for possessing another person's ID, 8 for possessing alcohol in the stadium, 2 for violating stadium rules, and 1 for disorderly conduct.

Two people were arrested for minor in possession of alcohol. One person was issued a citation for possessing another person's ID, Brown said.

Emergency medical personnel treated 34 people at the game, but none were taken to the hospital, she said.

Announced attendance was 112,115. Michigan won the game, 36-14.

I'm not sure the 24 ejected for having someone else's ID is referring to drivers licenses. The University of Michigan has strict ticket policies that require students to have their student ID AND ticket to enter a game. If a student can't go to a game they can try to lend out their ID, unsuccessfully obviously, or they have to pay a fee that can be up to $55 to let someone else use the ticket. You'd think the University would want to fill up the Big House and make it easier for loyal fans to have access to games. Read more about these kinds of restrictive ticket policies, and what you can do to stop them, at www.fanfreedom.org.

Someone needs to explain why you bring a fake id to a stadium that doesn't allow alcohol????? How did they find out??? When do you show id at a Michigan game???

Personally I think those that were ejected from the game, should not be able to return for future games.

And no reported incidents of marijuana use or people who smoked a joint and got in a fight or broke car windows. Please tell me again why marijuana is illegal and alcohol use is legal, condoned culturally and underage drinking is winked at in Ann Arbor.

Now I know why the student section has empty seats.

They need the id to get in if they have tickets to the student section. Can no longer use student tickets if you are not a student. There goes another source of income for students!

Because in order to use a student tkt, one must have a student ID, or they must go to the Will Call window and pay a fee to have the tkt validated for non-student use. Good Night and Good Luck

Clearly the "No outside beverages" rule is working out really well.

"...24 were ejected for possessing another person's ID..." Only one person was issued a citation for possessing another person's ID? Why only 1 of 24???

Why is possessing someone else's ID a crime? Using it for illegal purposes (like buying liquor while underage) is one thing, but "possessing" it? What does that really mean?

one was probably an Ann Arbor resident...the others most likely were from out of town. Just like the railroad tracks. Ann Arbor residents can't walk the railroad tracks without getting a ticket, but the cops will ignore out of town football fans walking the tracks. (Not that walking the tracks is a smart idea)
