Update 10:50 a.m.: This story has been updated to show Zeeb Road is open again. Three people were injured, one critically, in a two-vehicle crash on Zeeb Road north of Interstate 94 in Scio Township Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when a southbound van struck a car whose driver was trying to make a left turn out of the BP gas station just north of the intersection with I-94 west of Ann Arbor, said Washtenaw County sheriff’s Sgt. Geoffrey Fox.

Preliminary information about the crash indicates traffic was backed up near the gas station, Fox said, and one motorist tried to let the car out, but the driver, a 30-year-old man from the Toledo, Ohio, apparently couldn’t see the southbound van in the other lane.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Fox said. He suffered head trauma and a fractured neck, Fox said. Two adult passengers in the car were hospitalized in stable condition, he said.

The driver of the van was not injured.

Police closed the road for an investigation of the crash. According to a sheriff's office release, the road reopened about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
