3 crashes, vehicle fire slow traffic on Ann Arbor-area freeways

By Kyle Feldscher

Three crashes and a fire were slowing traffic on freeways around Ann Arbor Tuesday morning, dispatchers said.

As of 8:30 a.m., emergency responders were dealing with a vehicle fire on westbound Interstate 94 and Zeeb Road, dispatchers said. It was unknown if that incident was blocking any traffic lanes. There was a separate crash on the eastbound side of the freeway in the same area, according to dispatchers.

The crash on the eastbound side of the freeway was not blocking any traffic, dispatchers said.

Two crashes were reported at M-14 and Barton Drive, one on each side of the freeway. The crash on eastbound M-14 at Barton Drive was blocking the right lane as of 8:30 a.m. and a separate crash at westbound M-14 and Barton was not blocking traffic, dispatchers said.

Traffic was backed up significantly in the area of M-14 north of Ann Arbor in both directions. A motorist reported drivers were backing off the entrance ramp from Maple Road to eastbound M-14.

It’s unknown if there were any injuries in any of the crashes.

I'll make an excuse for the one, maybe gawking at the vehicle fire. But you're right JRW, don't think anyone can blame the road crews today.
