The '80s rock Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena

By Ann Dwyer

The side ponytails were swinging in the wind as ice skaters dressed in their finest ‘80s apparel flew around the rink at Buhr Park on Ann Arbor's South Side. The park hosted an ‘80s themed skate party on Friday evening as part of its Funky Frosty Fridays.

It was a Funky Frosty Friday at Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena as skaters made their way around the rink to the sounds of the '80s.

Skaters from all ages and skill levels circled the rink to some of the biggest hits from the ‘80s. For some, it was a welcome flashback to the days of big hair and legwarmers.

Fifth-grader Callie Woodside was hard to miss on the ice with her sequined beret glinting under the party lights of the rink. Woodside came to the skate party with a large group of family and friends.

The next Funky Frosty Friday will be a St. Patrick’s Day skate on March 12 starting at 7:15 p.m.

If interested in more 80's themes, Chelsea FSC is having their own Skate Show on May 15. We will be there. The rink is right behind the lumber company.
