Michigan's pro day set for March 14, 12 scheduled to participate
The rest will have to impress scouts during the Wolverines' annual pro day at Schebmechler Hall.
This year's event is slated for March 14, a Michigan spokesman confirmed, and players such as defensive tackle Will Campbell will have a chance to participate in combine-like events such as the 40-yard dash and bench press before scouts from most of the NFL.
"I wanted to go to the combine -- I always watched it on TV with my dad," Campbell said Thursday before a private workout in Indianapolis. "It was hard. But when I found out I wasn't going, it was like, 'All right, this just gives me more time to prepare myself for the pro day. Let's do this."
Eleven former Michigan players are scheduled to join Campbell at the pro day, although the lineup is subject to change: Safety Jordan Kovacs, defensive end Craig Roh, linebacker Kenny Demens, cornerback J.T. Floyd, linebacker Brandin Hawthorne, left guard Ricky Barnum, right guard Patrick Omameh, receiver Roy Roundtree, center Elliott Mealer, tailback Vincent Smith, Robinson and Campbell.
Last year, 41 scouts from 29 NFL teams attended the Wolverines' pro day.
The only Michigan players drafted last year competed in the combine, but Ryan Van Bergen parlayed a strong pro day performance into a priority free-agent deal with the Carolina Panthers.
