Live blog: No. 3 Michigan looks for first win at Wisconsin since 1999
Wisconsin 65, Michigan 62
Brust does it again. His late 3-pointer in overtime salts it for Wisconsin. More in a bit.
Michigan 60, Wisconsin 60
Tim Hardaway Jr. hits a 3-pointer with just 2.4 seconds to play, but Ben Brust forces overtime with a 3-pointer at the buzzer from just inside halfcourt. Wow.
Michigan 57, Wisconsin 57
-- :28.3, second half
Jared Berggren's dunk and the foul results in a 3-point play, tie game. It'll be Michigan ball with a chance to win it.
Michigan 55, Wisconsin 54
-- 2:27, second half
Michigan having trouble making shots now, a shot clock violation and a few other sloppy possessions have allowed the Badgers to be right in this thing.
Michigan 51, Wisconsin 47
-- 7:23, second half
Mitch McGary is having quite a game. Has 10 points, and after drawing a key charge, he gives a little bit of love (or hate?) to the Wisconsin student section.
Michigan 45, Wisconsin 44
-- 11:42, second half
Michigan gets its first free throw attempts of the game with 12:08 to go. Burke splits the pair.
Michigan 44, Wisconsin 42
-- 13:18, second half
Mitch McGary now with 10 points off the bench, and Trey Burke now has 14 points -- doing a bit of everything also. Burke with 14, 5 rebounds, 4 assists.
Michigan 40, Wisconsin 39
-- 14:40, second half
Very un-Wisconsinlike pace here to start the second half. The Badgers hit a ton of early shots, so does Michigan. Trey Burke now with 12 points to lead the Wolverines, who cling to a one-point lead after falling back behind by as many as four to start the second.
Michigan 29, Wisconsin 28
Michigan shooting 13 of 34, not exactly playing well -- but somehow, is in front. The Wolverines closed the half on a 13-4 run to take the lead. Hardaway and Burke both with 7 points to lead Michigan, McGary with 6 off the bench. Wisconsin now 11 of 25 from the floor.
Wisconsin 24, Michigan 23
-- 3:49, first half
A 7-0 run by Michigan gives the Wolverines some life after being down as many as nine here early. Mitch McGary with 6 points off the bench, Tim Hardaway Jr. with 7 to pace Michigan.
Wisconsin 20, Michigan 14
-- 7:56, first half
Michigan now 6 of 21 from the floor, missing a ton of shots at the basket. Have to be stronger than that inside, or it's going to be a nightmare in here. Jon Horford already 0 of 3.
Wisconsin 15, Michigan 9
-- 11:11, first half
Michigan shooting 4 of 15 from the floor, the Badgers heating up, now with 3 3-pointers. Trey Burke's taken one shot.
Michigan 5, Wisconsin 5
-- 14:42, first half
Wisconsin's loving this ugly, horrible pace. Teams are a combined 4 of 15 from the floor. Michigan letting the Badgers lull it to sleep right now. Nowhere near aggressive enough on the offensive end, in my opinion.
• Starters today for Michigan: Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III, Jon Horford.
• Michigan junior forward Jordan Morgan did not participate in team warmups. He is dressed, but he doesn't look like a player that plans on playing this afternoon. Still walking pretty gingerly on that right ankle. I'd be surprised if he goes. But, we'll see.
The last time the Michigan basketball team won a basketball game at the Kohl Center, Bo Ryan was leading Wisconsin-Plateville to a Division III national championship.
The Wolverines haven't won a game in Madison since 1999, when Dick Bennett manned the Wisconsin sideline.
No. 3 Michigan (21-2, 8-2) will look to end that drought this afternoon when it visits Ryan and the Badgers (16-7, 7-3) at noon (ESPN).
With a win, Michigan put itself in position -- once a again -- to regain the No. 1 spot in the nation on Monday. A victory would also push Michigan a half-game up on Indiana for first place in the Big Ten.
