Michigan's Nik Stauskas, the nation's top 3-point shooter, wins 3rd B1G Freshman of the Week honor
ANN ARBOR -- If there's been a better Big Ten freshman than Nik Stauskas so far this season, he's yet to show himself.
Stauskas, Michigan's 6-foot-6 sharpshooting wing, picked up his third Big Ten Freshman of the Week award Monday after going for 19 points and 7 rebounds in the second-ranked Wolverines' 88-73 win over Central Michigan on Saturday.
Stauskas' award marks the sixth time in eight weeks that a Michigan player has won a B1G Player of the Week (Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr.) or Freshman of the Week (Stauskas, Mitch McGary) award.
During the win over Central Michigan, Stauskas went 5 of 8 from the 3-point line and scored 17 of his 19 points after the break.
For the season, Stauskas is shooting 56.5 percent from downtown -- the top number in America.
Michigan's third-leading scorer, Stauskas is averaging 13.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Wolverines (13-0).
