Poll: What's your reaction to Maryland, Rutgers joining Michigan, Michigan State in Big Ten?
Fear the Turtle.
OK, the Big Ten's football teams likely won't be worried with Maryland joining the conference — as approved by the school's Board of Regents on Monday — but what are fans' reaction to the dominoes now in place?
The Terrapins, who have to pay a $50 million exit fee to leave the ACC, will join the Big Ten officially in 2014-15.
Rutgers is expected accept its invitation over the next two days, which would push the Big Ten to 14 teams. And there's speculation expansion won't end there.
The Big Ten's motivation appears to have come down to money. Adding Maryland and Rutgers expands the conference's footprint, getting the league — and its TV network — some exposure in the New York and Washington D.C. markets.
But maybe there's a silver lining: It appears realignment would be in order for the Legends and Leaders division. So how about some new names, too?
