Brady Hoke, Michigan staff to honor Colts coach Chuck Pagano with T-shirts
ANN ARBOR -- Michigan coach Brady Hoke intends to honor Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano by having his staff wear "#chuckstrong" T-shirts prior to Saturday's game against Illinois.
Hoke has a long relationship with Pagano, who last week was diagnosed with leukemia.
"He's one of ours," Hoke said. "He's our kind of guy, and so we want to play a little tribute to him and also for the cause."
Hoke decided Sunday night to purchase about 40 of the shirts, which were created by the Colts to honor their coach. He and his staff will wear them to Saturday's game, but not during it.
Hoke said he became close to Pagano's brother, John, while coaching at San Diego State, but also has a relationship with Chuck. So does defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, who was the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens while Pagano was their secondary coach.
