Bob Ufer's call of 1979 Michigan-Michigan State game to air Saturday on WTKA in Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR -- The Michigan football team won't be playing this weekend.
But that doesn't mean fans can't hear Wolverine football on the radio.
As it does annually during Michigan's bye week, WTKA-AM (1050) in Ann Arbor will air a classic broadcast from the catalog of legendary Wolverine football play-by-play man Bob Ufer.
On Saturday, from noon to 3 p.m., WTKA will air Ufer's call of the 1979 Michigan-Michigan State game. The Wolverines won that contest, 21-7, thanks to a 139-yard rushing performance from Stanley Edwards and two touchdown passes from B.J. Dickey.
The annual event also serves as promotion for the Bob Ufer Scholarship fund, which has raised more than $1.3 million and provided 145 scholarships for students from Ann Arbor Pioneer, Huron and Skyline High Schools since Ufer passed in 1981.
