Stephen J. Schewe decorates his 1903 house at 428 Spring with a simple system of roping, lights, bows, and a wreath for 20 years. "Coming home at 5:30 in December, it is dark... so I feel that adding a few bright lights and cheeriness help neighbors feel uplifted on their walks," Schewe wrote in an e-mail.

Happy New Year to all. We just got home from a New years Wedding to find someone needed our lights more than we did. It is a shame that they have been up since Thanksgiving and people last night stole them. So sad that people have to ruin things. It looked nice while it lasted. Mike and Doreen Burns

There's a house on the corner of Villa France Ave and Versailles (west side of Ann Arbor, south of Jackson and Zeeb) that has an amazing light display up. There's 20+ light decorations and sometimes you can hear music playing. There's another over-the-top house in that subdivision that always has music playing, it's a little further down Versailles. If you're in the area and like that sort of thing, you should check them out! It'll make your skirt fly up!

This reminds me of an old "Family Circus" cartoon. Two houses next to each other, the first all lit up with Christmas lights and the second with only a simple 'Noel' sign on the front door. One of kids looks at the second house and says, "They must not be very religious."

Is that the angle or is that one giant candy cane at the Saline house?
