Take your meditation deeper by journal writing
When I actually think about why I’m meditating (see Fundamentals and Intention), I carry that intention with me into my practice. And I find I recall it throughout the day. It’s as if I’ve written the software and the program follows.

The days I take the time to write down my intention, I feel an even deeper connection. I did this for several months and had a major breakthrough in one of those “what-am-I-here-for” questions.
And, then journal writing has additional benefits. Of course, having a record of my meditations helps me remember them. Like with recorded dreams, journal writing gives me insights about myself. I review my writing after some time has passed and often become aware of new meanings. And finally, during dry times when I don’t think anything’s happening in my practice, reading a journal entry can infuse my meditation with sweetness, energy and a recommitment.
As a mental health professional, owner of a fitness studio, writer, wife, mother and grandmother, I have found meditation to be helpful in every aspect of my life.
