Eastern Michigan University's governing board on Tuesday unanimously approved a 3.75 percent tuition increase, which will bring in-state tuition at the Ypsilanti college to $9,364 per year.

Milan schools lays off employees, considers privatizing custodians

The Milan Area Schools Board of Education voted to lay off 14 employees, potentially consolidate bus routes and pursue a request for proposals to privatize custodial services, according to a report in the Milan News-Leader.

Ypsilanti Community Schools named a replacement principal for the unified Ypsilanti-Willow Run New Tech High School.

It has been less than a week since news broke that Ypsilanti New Tech Principal Cory McElmeel accepted a position as principal of Skyline High School in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. YCS officials announced the selection of McElmeel's replacement in a news release Monday afternoon.

Ann Arbor school board member says AATA might be able to fill void if district cuts busing

The Ann Arbor school board might have avoided eliminating high school bus services for next school year, but longtime board member Susan Baskett says the issue isn't over yet.

Baskett, who recently was appointed to the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority's governing board, expects serious talks over the next year about the possibility of the school district cutting bus services and seeing where the AATA might be able to step in to fill the void.
