The two University of Michigan students accused of possessing Molotov cocktails on the night of the Michigan men’s basketball team’s national championship loss to Louisville are members of the wrestling team and have been indefinitely suspended.

Ypsilanti DDA may install security cameras to deter illegal dumping

Ypsilanti Downtown Development Authority Director Tim Colbeck said installing security cameras may be one way to stop recurring illegal dumping downtown.

"Over the years, we’ve had our ration of misues," Colbeck said. "People dump couches, construction materials and it costs the DDA a lot of money every year to correct the problem."

Two Ann Arbor men were arraigned Wednesday on explosives charges for possessing Molotov cocktails the night of the University of Michigan basketball team's national championship loss to Louisville.

In the months between August 2011 and January 2012, there was at least one thing Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office deputies in Ypsilanti Township could rely on: They would respond to at least one call every three nights, on average, coming from the 24-hour Luca’s Coney Island located at 2469 Washtenaw Ave.

That's about 225 calls in the last four and a half years, with 70 percent of them coming in between 2 and 5 a.m.

16-year-old sentenced for robbing and shooting man

A 16-year-old Superior Township boy accused of robbing and then shooting a 39-year-old man was sentenced in the Washtenaw County Trial Court Tuesday.

Bertel Gibbs was convicted as an adult, but sentenced as a juvenile.
