Muslims share humor, challenges
Mohammed Amer is one of the three comedians featured in "Allah Made Me Funny."
For the past few years, The New York Times has been running a series on life as a Muslim in America. Today, the Muslim in America series is featured on the NYT Web site, and additional materials - including audio, multimedia and more - are all included. The NYT even garnered Pulitzer Prizes for its work.
At the end of this month, millions of Muslims honor Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca that every Muslim is expected to complete at least once in a lifetime. An array of travel sites offer services to American Muslims, as Hajj marks one of the Five Pillars of Islam. This year, officials are warning that all travelers - American and non-American alike - be vaccinated for H1N1 prior to Hajj. As Hajj brings together more people than any other annual event in the world, officials warn Muslims to take extra care.
