Ypsi 24 Hour Film Shootout to hold launch party for potential filmmakers

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Note: Organizers have announced a date change to Aug. 16.

This October, the inaugural Ypsi 24-Hour Film Shootout will give local filmmakers a chance to shoot and edit a short movie in just 24 hours - and the official Shootout launch party is scheduled on Thursday, August 16 at 7 p.m. at the Mix Marketplace (200 W. Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti).

The Ypsi 24-Hour Film Shootout (Ypsi 24) asks community filmmakers to create a short film and share it at a community screening that brings together filmmakers, wannabe filmmakers, and film lovers. Plus, there will be cash prizes for the winners.

The Shootout kicks off on Friday, October 5 at 6 p.m. at the Mix Marketplace; registered filmmakers will receive a list of elements to include in their movie. Once the official clock begins, the completed films must be delivered 24 hours later, on October 6. A screening of the top entries and winners will be held at the Mix Marketplace on Sunday, October 7.

Filmmakers’ creativity and teamwork capabilities will be tested in this time-restricted production schedule. The Best of the Best will be rewarded with a cash prize and showcased via WDEE-TV.COM.
