Woodruff's offers three performers for a price that can't be beat Wednesday night

By Roger LeLievre

Woodruff’s, the epicenter of the live music universe in Ypsilanti, offers three artists for the price of what you’d usually pay for one on Wednesday. On the bill are Erica Russo, Anne Palmer and Otter River.

Erica Russo and The Good Sport - on their Brooklyn, N.Y. to Brooklyn, Mich. tour - have been described as a cross between the poetic vocal style and gentle quality of Joanna Newsom, and the passion, energy, and directness of Heart, lending hints of songwriting styles similar to Ani Difranco and Laura Marling.

Otter River, from the Upper Peninsula town of Pelkie (at the base of the Keweenaw Peninsula), plays classic and/or outlaw country.

Long-time local Annie Palmer lists her hometown and current location as Ypsilanti. She’s played pretty much everywhere in the area and lent her talents to numerous group efforts, including the My Folky Valentine shows at The Ark and appearances at the West Park Band Shell.

Erica Russo, Anne Palmer, Otter River will perform at Woodruff’s, 36 East Cross St., Ypsilanti, on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Doors at 9 p.m. Cover is $5. Details at www.woodruffsbar.com
