Washtenaw Community Concert Band offers free outdoor concert
Washtenaw Community Concert Band will present a concert called A Celebration of American Musicians on Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m. on the north lawn of the Ann Arbor First United Methodist Church, 120 S. State St.
The 70-piece concert band will perform familiar selections by well-known American composers such as George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Leroy Anderson, John Williams, Henry Fillmore and John Philip Sousa. Under the direction of conductor Dr. Chris Heidenreich, instrumental and vocal soloists from the band and the host church will be featured in "Porgy and Bess" and "Bugler's Holiday." Plus, Pioneer High School freshman and soloist Griffin Roy will perform von Weber's "Concerto for Clarinet No. 1," with band accompaniment.
