Here's a bird's-eye view, with a couple of tail feathers, overlooking East Liberty Street's early morning action on the first day of the Ann Arbor Art Fair on Wednesday, July 17.

Lonnie, When I saw those tail feathers show up I was pretty excited. Had my fingers crossed hoping to see her face but she was apparently feeling shy! Maybe next time we will throw a little bird seed up there!

Kai, The moving shots in the video linked above were all done is post production. There is a photographer locally who co-founded Dynamic Perception LLC a camera and motion control system that uses dollies, rails, etc. You should check them out.

Melanie, cool! timelapse and the camera is moving too... i'm jealous. someday I hope I can try timelapse with one of those thingies (dolly?) that moves the camera slowly.

HI Kai, Nice vantage point! I'll never get sick of seeing the clouds move and rotate, I find it really fascinating. I haven't ton a time lapse in awhile. I shot a ton of them in the early days of AnnArbor.com for television commercials we were running. The heat probably has been a bit of discouragement but there are still plenty of people roaming the streets. I also add that for some reason the birds-eye view makes the foot traffic seems less than what it is when you are on the street.

Thanks, Melanie. I'm impressed by the GP's timelapse ability. I've been taking timelapses for about a year. and a half I use two different Canon cameras souped up with the CHDK firmware. (which anyone with a Canon should check out ) It's a fun hobby because there's never-ending room for improvement!

Hi Morris, I just used a GoPro! Set it up there this morning before the show opened and ran it until the battery ran out. A total of around 2,400 images. One of my favorite features of the GoPro (other than you can mount it just about anywhere) is the app. There is a preview that shows up right on your phone and you can adjust all of the settings, even a spot meter. Have you done any time lapses?

Time-lapse is always fun! Next time, run the camera during set-up. (Also, run it during tear-down; that would be fun to see, too!)
