UMS fund-raiser to kick off observance of Hill Auditorium's 100th anniversary
A season-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Hill Auditorium gets started this week as the University Musical Society presents its "On the Road" fundraiser.
UMS is the venerable fine-arts presenting organization based at the University of Michigan, and Hill Auditorium—one of the country's top concert halls—is its most important venue. Hence, this Friday's event, to be held at Hill and featuring music, other live entertainment, food, raffles and a live auction.
Auction attractions include some big-ticket items like "Rocky Mountain Magnificence," three nights each in Banff Springs and Lake Louise, airfare, and complimentary breakfast; "Discover New Orleans," with four nights, airfare, dinner jazz cruise, complimentary breakfast, and a cooking class; and a 1960s-style barn dance featuring The Breakers.
Individual tickets are $100, and advance registration is reequired. Tickets may be purchased by calling 734-764-8489 or via email at ralesko@umich.edu.
