U-M's Darren Criss named breakout star at Teen Choice Awards

Darren Criss, the 2009 University of Michigan graduate who has been winning fame on TV (costarring on "Glee") and in the music world, just got a little hotter.

At last night's Teen Choice Awards, Criss was named "Choice Breakthrough TV Star" for his role as Blaine on "Glee."

The blog Celebrity Gossip notes that Criss had a pretty high profile throughout the night as "Glee" ended up taking three awards.

Winners of the annual Teen Choice Awards are determined by fan voting.

Upcoming on the agenda for Criss: A three-week run starring in the current Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," starting Jan. 3.
