University of Michigan musical theater alums star in web series "The Battery's Down"
If you're a fan of the University of Michigan's top-notch musical theater program, and you'd like to see recent graduates goofing around —Â and singing and dancing, of course — in New York City, check out the web series called "The Battery's Down."
The series initially premiered on YouTube last year, and each episode is broken up into two parts. Starring, written and directed by Jake Wilson — and with a theme song by former Wolverines Benj Pasek and Justin Paul — the documentary-style show follows Jake as he struggles through auditions, day jobs and bad dates in the Big Apple.
Each episode contains a new song by an established musical theater writer or team, and episode 13 — with guest appearances by Sutton Foster, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Whoopi Goldberg and others — is scheduled to premiere on YouTube tomorrow (August 1).
Until then, check out the show's site, and catch up on the series. (And see how many musical theater references you catch in the song "This is Your Life," from part two of the first episode, called "The Big Apple." Note that the content is a bit adult-oriented at times.)
