"The Ides of March"—the highly anticipated political thriller shot in Ann Arbor and elsewhere around the region earlier this year—has a trailer online.

The movie, directed by George Clooney, centers on a presidential campaign. The high-powered cast includes Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Marisa Tomei. Given the movie's pedigree, it's already being mentioned in Academy Awards talk despite very few people having seen it yet.

Here's the trailer:

The movie is set for a prestigious slot opening the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 31. It opens Oct. 7.

I am excited to see the movie, my daughters were extras in it (crowd scene) and they had a blast doing it . They thought that George was funny and professional. We loved him in ER and in the Ocean's movies. I wish it were out sooner!

Ditto ... I was an extra in the Bloomfield Hills church scene. Looking forward to it!

Clooney is getting to be just like Woody Allen. The critics love him and everybody else just yawns. He shoulda stayed on ER.

"Highly anticipated" by who? Clooney talent as an actor or director is way over rated. Every film of his I've ever seen of his sucked.

agree - I am not anticipating this one Clooney is hit or miss but I am never waiting for his movies to come out - mostly see them via cable or DVDs. Good Night and Good luck was good. Up in the Air was fun and two of the thee "Oceans" movies were fun ... and he was great in "Dusk till Dawn" i wont pay $9 to see a movie cause for 30 seconds you can see the backdrop of an area I see everday for free :-) I will pay to see good movies though
