Townie Street Party announces new location, music lineup

By AnnArbor.com Staff

The Townie Street Party—the annual locally focused event that precedes the Ann Arbor Art Fairs—has announced some details of this year's bash, including a slightly different home.

Taking place 5-9:30 p.m. Monday, July 18, this year's party will be located on East Washington Street between Thayer and Fletcher. The party has moved around somewhat since its creation a few years ago, but it's always been somewhere in the vicinity of Ingalls Mall.

Organizers of the party also announced the music lineup: The Ragbirds, Dick Siegel & the Brandos, and String of Ponies.

Other details:

• The Kids' Art Fair will return with 94 exhibitors in grades 1 through 8.
• Arbor Brewing Co. will be on hand, and food will be available.
• A $50 ticket buys access to The Terrace, a private area with covered seating, food and beverages, and more. Tickets can be purchased online. $25 of each ticket is tax deductible and helps support the educational and outreach activities presented by the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, which organizes the Townie Party and is one of four fairs that together constitute the Ann Arbor Art Fairs.

Yes their own VIP room. That is to keep the unwashed masses away from the blue bloods. Yet another indication of how much Ann Arbor is becoming just another WASP / YUPPIE suburb
