Tonight at Top of the Park - Thursday, July 4: Alejandra O'Leary, 'Sixteen Candles,' and more

Here's the schedule for tonight's Top of the Park, the free (donations welcome), outdoor component of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. Descriptions provided by the festival. Top of the Park takes place in the area around East Washington Street at Ingalls Mall, except as noted.

5 p.m.: KidZone: Apple Playschools; KidZone Tent
Join Apple Playschools in celebrating Hispanic culture through music and bilingual yoga for kids led by the Manzanitas Spanish Immersion Playschool.

5 p.m.: Capitol Steps - Power Center
Answering the call for more civil discourse, these former Congressional staffers’ brilliant song parodies and hilarious sketches lampoon up-to-the-minute issues, events, and personalities, poking fun at both sides of the aisle.

5 p.m.: Jennae & Elrod - Grove Stage
Welcome back Ann Arbor blues singer and acoustic guitarist Jennae Raynes and Inkster bluesman Elrod for an acoustic duo in The Grove.

6 p.m.: Spontaneous Art - South Ingalls Mall
Spontaneous Art create interactive performances that bring bystanders together for moments of communal laughter, social connectivity, and flashes of creativity.

6 p.m.: Alexis - Grove Stage
Known for their far out aesthetic, hypnotic keyboards, and aerobic frolicking on stage, Grand Rapids electro-pop phenomenon Alexis (Matt Forbush and Dan Hurst) has been converting crowds with their high-energy mix of retro pop, smoky lounge, and raspy jazz vocals.

7 p.m.: Alejandra O'Leary & The Champions of the West - Rackham Stage
Welcome back Ann Arbor based singer-songwriter Alejandra O’Leary’s catchy, melodic rock n’ roll, beautiful vocals, great pop hooks, and old-school sweetness.

8 p.m.: Capitol Steps - Power Center
America’s foremost political satirists return to Ann Arbor for their annual Fourth of July performances.

8:30 p.m.: Great Divide - Rackham Stage
Tonight at TOP Motown meets Muscle Shoals as former locals Great Divide perform horn-driven blues, soulful rock, and tight grooves perfect for a summer evening.

10 p.m.: Movie: "Sixteen Candles" - Rackham Stage
In celebration of the festival’s 30th season, step back in time to 1984 and join us for a screening of the ‘80s classic "Sixteen Candles."
