Tonight at Top of the Park - Friday, June 28: Become a 'Superhero'; live jazz and soul; and more

Here's the schedule for tonight's Top of the Park, the free (donations welcome), outdoor component of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. Descriptions provided by the festival. Top of the Park takes place in the area around East Washington Street at Ingalls Mall, except as noted.

5 p.m.: KidZone: U-M Museum of Natural History KidZone Tent
Join us for Super-U Superhero Training Camp hosted by the U-M Museum of Natural History!

5 p.m.: John Whitaker - Grove Stage
(CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER) Part power pop, part Americana, this talented singer-songwriter opens a great weekend at Top of the Park.

6 p.m.: Chris Dupont - Grove Stage
(CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER) Chris Dupont’s distinctive tenor, effortless guitar work, and visual lyrics invite listeners in and ask them to consider passages between time and place.

7 p.m.: Gwenyth Hayes - Rackham Stage
(CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER) Recently returning to Michigan, Gwenyth Hayes joins us with her cover band specializing in unique sultry arrangements of jazzy neo-soul and soft rock.

8 p.m.: The Brothers Groove - Rackham Stage
Inspired by their native Detroit, their bluesy, soulful vocals cover topics as dynamic as “pressure cookers, iron pimps, and beautiful women from other realms.”

9:30 p.m.: JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound - Rackham Stage
This is a neo-soul band that connects with people the old-fashioned way, by whipping them into a frenzy with honest appeal and unbridled enthusiasm.

9:45 p.m.: Superhero - South Ingalls Mall
Superhero is an interactive projection mapping experience in which participants are transformed into superheroes using Kinect cameras and customized software.

11 p.m.: After Dark w/ DJ Maxx Makau - Grove Stage
Come hear the Hip Hop, R&B, Urban, Afro-Beat, Afro-Pop, Top 40, Reggae, and Dancehall set by Ann Arbor-based DJ Maxx Makau.
