Elizabeth McCracken to visit the Zell Visiting Writers Series

The Zell Visiting Writers Series will host Elizabeth McCracken on Thursday. Besides only hosting the very cream of the author-ly crop, here's why you should go: 1) She is a former librarian, she knows what makes a great book. 2) Her book "The Giant's House" was a finalist for the National Book Award, which is only one of the acclaims her writing has received. 3) Her last name sounds like the Scottish version of a mythical sea monster.

Not convinced? She has also written "An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination," "Niagara Falls All Over Again," and the short story collection "Here’s Your Hat What’s Your Hurry." Not only that, organizations give her money to write; she's that good.

The Zell Writing Series brings outstanding writers each semester. Learn more about it at www.lsa.umich.edu/english/grad/mfa/mfaeve.asp.

Thursday, Feb. 07, 2013. 5:10 p.m. Free. 525 South State St., Ann Arbor. 734-764-0395.
